Introducing our 2012 Kona ":Jake the Snake" test bike. This is one of those bikes that should carry a sticker that says, "Warning, May Be Addictive". It's a cyclocross bike, so of course it's perfect for the most fun cycle race discipline, but it's also a kick-ass fast gravel tourer, tough as nails trainer or commuter (even has rack mounts), or just the most fun you can have with your pants on.

It is one of the most diverse cyclocross bikes ever. It can race, commute, train, tour or just plain ride. We've seen Jake The Snakes cross Africa, win cyclocross races and battle through downtown rain. This year, our classic Kona model takes on more of a racing aesthetic, sharing the same frame features and race-winning geometry as our Major Jake, as well as some bling-factor specs, like new Avid Shorty 6 brakes.

Ex-Hire Bike sale

We've just updated our hire bike fleet and have the last of our old bikes to clear.


The bikes are Gary Fisher Tarpon, they are simple, robust bikes, 21 speed, front suspension mountain bikes. There is only 2 left, they are both larger sizes, a 19.5" and 21.5". Super cheap price at only $100 ea. Pick up from the shop only.

Despite having not missed a beat since we started them this Autumn, this week's shop ride (20/08/2011) will unfortunately be cancelled. Both myself and Dave are under the weather and are unable to ride.

We've just had a big restock of Strider Pre-bikes. With the new stock comes some big savings, with a price drop to $175. We've now got the full range of colours in stock, as well as our biggest range of accessories yet including XL Long seatposts and footbrakes, for when the little tikes get a bit bigger and more confident.

Jeff outdoing us old guys, Looking way smoother, faster and more in control than Bert or I, on a much much gnarlier track than that CX track we raced.

Team Oxygen Cycles race CX.

Bert and Dave raced the Port Adelaide Cycling Club's Cyclocross race this past weekend. We finished mid-pack, but weren't really counting.. the all important 'race within the race' was the inaugural McLaren Vale Cup. Bert vs. Dave vs. local vineyard manager, hardcore biker and super nice guy Dave Gartleman. (seen in the BMCR kit in the video below.) Results were super close, each rider finishing next to each other on the 'official results'. Beer was won, and beer was drunk.

I've not enjoyed a race as much as this in a long time. Well run, super spectator and family friendly,fun track and hot coffee.

Kona Dirty Weekend 24hr

Adelaide's own long running 24hr race returns to its home at Cudlee Creek. This year on an earlier date, 16-17th April.

Get you're team together, or ride solo in either 6, 12 or 24hr events.

Its a great event supported by our good friends at Kona. You can test ride one of the 2011 bikes including the Abra Cadabra.. Majic linky goodness!!

Bunch Ride on Again

McLaren Vale bunch ride is happening again this week. 7:45am at Oxygen Cycles for 8am start. Target 2 hour ride, flat to rolling with one moderate climb.

We're going to stop discussing, planning and generally procrastinating and just get on with it. Bunch ride, from the shop, leave 8am sharp (so meet at 7:45am). For now looking at flat to rolling ride at a moderate pace, will look at harder and faster options if the need and want arises.
